Mixing efficiency of Static LMXR Mixing Elements

White and blue coloured, viscous epoxy resins are pumped through a static mixer containing 8 LMXR mixing elements and an empty pipe (= laminar flow conditions). After hardening of the resins longitudinal and cross cuts have been made which demonstrate clearly the outstanding mixing performance of the static mixer whereas in the empty pipe no mixing at all occurs.

LMXR mixing elements of different diameters (from 15m)  produce the requested mixture/dispersion.

 

They are arranged in a mixer pipe, usually equipped with ERMETO couplings, in a manner that the shear-rate increases from stage to stage and thus the droplet size of the dispersion continuously decreases. In the final stage the droplets are distributed uniformly over the entire flow cross section.
